In March 2004, 12 men and women were invited to travel from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, to the Diocese of Kumi, Uganda. While there they led a four day training and refreshment conference for clergy and lay-readers, and participated in evangelistic outreach together with the conference delegates.
The team, from a diverse range of backgrounds, were all united in the desire to serve Jesus and make him known in the world. Several of the team are training for ordination in the Church of England.
The evangelism was truly cross-cultural, involving reaching out to people within Ugandan culture, and within that, to people involved in Islam and traditional African religions. The conference programme ran each day, and each evening teams travelled to local villages to hold evangelistic meetings. Proceedings culminated in a joint service of celebration at Ngora Cathedral.
